Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez on Friday was named "Hero of press freedom in the world" by the International Press Institute (IPI), for defying the restriLa Shares imposed in his country and defended freedom of speech.

IPI appointed this year to eight "heroes of press freedom in the world" in Sri Lanka, Gambia, Turkey and South Africa, bringing to 60 the number of distinguished people, to celebrate its 60 anniversary.
